100 Days in Office: More Services and Improved Revenue Collection at the Mario Correa Rengifo E.S.E. Departmental Hospital

(Juan Carlos Corrales, the manager of the Mario Correa Rengifo Departmental Hospital, presents the management report on his first 100 days at the Mario Correa Rengifo E.S.E. Departmental Hospital to the Board of Directors.)

During its report on the first 100 days of its administration, the Mario Correa Rengifo E.S.E. Departmental Hospital presented significant progress in improving its services and achieving financial recovery. The addition of beds in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), the expansion of specialized care such as urology and general surgery, and the recovery of more than 50% of the hospital’s receivables reflect the ongoing effort to provide better care to the community.

“The hospital has improved its revenue collection, but non-payment by the EPSs remains a challenge. Currently, they owe us nearly 20,000 million pesos. Together with our Governor, we have established concrete actions to recover this receivables portfolio and ensure the hospital’s financial stability. This includes launching new services and implementing austerity measures to optimize resources,” explained the manager, Juan Carlos Corrales.

Despite the uncertainty in the healthcare sector, we continue to make progress in our accreditation processes and to establish ourselves as a green hospital. In addition, we are implementing a mixed-cost system and strengthening our medium-complexity care capacity for the benefit of Cali and the Valle del Cauca region.

Although monthly collections exceed 50%, we insist on the need for the EPSs to make their payments on time. “The problem is that most of the revenue comes from previous fiscal years and not from the current one. We hope that the EPSs under administrative receivership will comply with the payments that have already been reconciled and acknowledged,” added Juan Carlos Corrales.

As part of our growth vision, we are also working on a project to renovate the hospital’s infrastructure, with the goal of continuing to improve our facilities and ensuring quality service for our patients.

At the Mario Correa Rengifo E.S.E. Departmental Hospital, we reaffirm our commitment to the community’s health and continue to move forward with effective management, efficiency, and dedication.
