At the Mario Correa Rengifo E.S.E. Departmental Hospital, we are proud to have received the Carbon Neutral Certification awarded by ICONTEC, in recognition of our commitment to sustainability, climate change mitigation, and the responsible management of our greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
This certificate was awarded after verifying and approving our compliance with the requirements set forth in ICONTEC’s Guide for Carbon Neutrality Verification and Certification, demonstrating that we have established an institutional carbon neutrality policy, developed a GHG management program, and effectively offset our carbon footprint.
????With this achievement, we have become the second hospital in Cali to obtain this certification, reaffirming our leadership in the healthcare sector from an environmental and sustainability perspective.
We were able to offset all of our emissions through investments in environmental projects such as the CRIMA Predio Putumayo and the Andoque de Aduche REDD+ Project, which focus on the conservation of forests located in indigenous territories within the Andoque de Aduche Indigenous Reserve in Solano (Caquetá), and in the indigenous communities of Puerto Zábalo, Los Monos, and the Monochoa area, which are part of the Gran Predio Putumayo Indigenous Reserve in the department of Amazonas.
This achievement reflects our ongoing efforts to reduce our emissions through measures such as improving energy efficiency, using renewable energy, and proper waste management.

Our manager, Dr. Juan Carlos Corrales, highlighted this milestone as a significant step toward establishing a socially responsible institution:

With this certification, we have established ourselves as a national leader in social responsibility within the healthcare sector and reinforced our commitment to the Global Network of Green and Healthy Hospitals, prioritizing the health of people and the environment in which they live.
